HELPING SICK, ABUSED AND ABANDONED CHILDREN

The main mission of the GRANTER project is to help vulnerable children in Czechia, including children with cancer and children who have experienced abuse.

We support professionals who are often underfunded by the state but are absolutely essential for the care of these children. These include child psychologists, educators, and data managers in hospitals or facilities for children at risk.

The GRANTER project thus subsidizes the wages of several workers who help more than 1,250 at-risk children annually.

FINANCING VETERINARY CARE

Shelters in Czechia often lack money for veterinary care and food for the constant onslaught of abandoned and abused animals. That is why the Emanek project exists. Thanks to donors, it covers the costs of caring for furry friends in need — medication, vaccinations, neutering, and other necessary treatment. In collaboration with the Brit brand, Emanek supplies veterinary food to supported shelters and associations.

Each year, Emanek helps hundreds of animals by funding veterinary treatment worth hundreds of thousands of Czech crowns.

Awareness campaign

Short documentary film

A Touch of Hope: The Story of Vera Reichlova

In 2026, we became the producer of the short documentary film Touch of Hope: The Story of Vera Reichlova. It opens up the topic of psychological care in pediatric oncology, where 200 to 250 families hear about cancer diagnoses at the Motol and Homolka Hospital every year. The film presents the work of child psychologist Vera Reichlova, who has been helping children and their loved ones cope with demanding treatment and return to normal life for more than 30 years, and shows how crucial psychological support plays in the treatment of children with cancer. The film and the related fundraiser can be found at www.vakovako.cz/dotek-nadeje.

Purchase of a van for children with disabilities

Olga Havlova High School

Olga Havlova Secondary School in Janske Lazne is a special school providing secondary education to students with physical disabilities, combined disabilities, autism or learning disabilities, behavioral disorders and mental disabilities. As the only school of its kind in the Czech Republic, it focuses on preparing these students for as independent a working and personal life as possible. In order for students to experience educational, cultural and sports activities outside of school, it is necessary to ensure their safe transportation. Therefore, in 2025, we implemented a fundraiser to purchase a new vehicle equipped with an electric hydraulic platform, which will enable the transport of wheelchair users and will serve their daily activities.

Documentary film co-production

Congo: Price of Elephant

In 2025, we became a co-producer of the documentary film Congo: Price of Elephant with Ben Cristovao and Arthur Sniegon, who go behind the scenes of the black market in ivory. Why? To draw attention to the topic of the possible extinction of forest elephants, to point out the connections that the topics on the other side of the world also concern us and that we should pay attention to them, but above all, they tried to motivate the public to support the Czech non-profit organization Save-Elephants in its fight for elephant protection. You can find the film and the related fundraiser at www.priceofelephant.com.

EUR 40,000

Reconstruction and financing of operations

Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital, Kyiv

In July 2024, one of the worst and most extensive air attacks on Kiev since the beginning of the war took place. Unfortunately, Russian missiles also hit the Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital, which is the largest children's hospital in Ukraine and has been saving children's lives since 1894. The hospital has a total of 720 hospital beds and treats more than 20,000 people and performs more than 9,000 operations annually. In August 2024, we provided a donation of EUR 40,000 to the hospital and subsequently launched a global charity fundraiser in the VAKOVAKO app, Help Ukraine.

CZK 50,000

Support for a nationwide media campaign

The hole belongs to the fox!

Denning is a cruel and outdated method of hunting, especially foxes. It harms not only them, but also hunting dogs. Fights in the den are long and bloody. This hunting method also includes the killing of fox cubs. It is necessary to create as much pressure as possible on politicians to start considering changing the law and ban denning. In support of the campaign The Den Belongs to the Fox! in 2024, NF VAKOVAKO donated CZK 50,000 to its organizers from Freedom of Animals.

In 2023, NF VAKOVAKO provided significant financial support for the reconstruction and improvement of conditions at the Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine at the Motol University Hospital. The total amount of CZK 488,830 enabled the modernization of the premises and the creation of a pleasant and safe environment for young patients and their families. The reconstruction included not only the restoration of the physical infrastructure, but also the creation of a special design and spatial arrangement that maximizes the comfort of patients and family members during their demanding treatment process.

Construction of a new playground

In 2023, NF VAKOVAKO secured the construction of a playground in Klokanek in Chomutov, for a total cost of CZK 396,505. Klokanek in Chomutov is a facility that provides support and assistance to children who have experienced various hardships and traumatic events. It is therefore important that they have a suitable and pleasant environment that will help them recover from a difficult life situation. A playground is one of the important elements of such an environment.

CZK 50,000

Support for a pan-European media campaign

For a Fur-Free Europe

In 2022, NF VAKOVAKO financially supported the pan-European campaign For a Fur-Free Europe and donated CZK 50,000 to the organizers from Freedom of Animals. The fundraiser of signatures for the European Citizens' Initiative was successfully completed and an incredible 1,701,892 signatures were collected. The European Commission subsequently took over the signatures and counted and verified them within a three-month period. This puts pressure on the European Commission to submit new legislation that will end the breeding of animals for fur once and for all.

Finance for Ukrainian animal societies and shelters

Helping animals in Ukraine

In the first weeks of the Ukrainian war (March 2022), we donated CZK 562,000 to the Ukrainian organization UAnimals through the Czech organization Freedom of Animals. The organization then redistributed the financial donation among Ukrainian shelters, rescue stations, and animal shelters. War conflicts bring suffering not only to people, but also to animals, who are often forgotten. Let's not forget those who cannot protect themselves!

Fundraiser "Pamet naroda" for Ukraine

We donated CZK 1,000,000 to the fundraiser organized by the Czech organization Post Bellum on February 24, 2022 (2 days after the outbreak of the Russian invasion). Thanks to the "Pamet naroda" fundraiser for Ukraine, we managed to hand over to the defenders of Ukraine, for example, 8 thousand bulletproof vests, 2,400 thermal imaging cameras and drones, 200 lung ventilators and ECGs, or 18 thousand first aid kits, etc., during the first 2 months of the war.
